WAVERLY, Iowa – Competing in their first Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, the Nebraska Wesleyan women's golf team had a strong finish to place 4
th overall in the team standings.
NWU shot a team score of 350 in round four on Saturday to pass Simpson College for fourth place as they edged the Storm by four total strokes. The Prairie Wolves had a four-round total of 1423, compared to 1427 for Simpson. Central College is the 2016 IIAC Champion with a total of 1300, defeating Wartburg College by eight strokes. Luther was third at 1325.
Two Nebraska Wesleyan players finished in the top ten individually to earn All-Conference recognition. Senior
Joselyn Lemm completed her solid tournament with a round 4 score of 82 to finish alone in 6
th place with a total of 327 (75-85-85-82). Lemm was just two strokes out of fourth place and edged the seventh place score by two strokes.
Sam Beal was the other NWU player to earn All-Conference with a 10
th place finish. Beal fired a round of 79 on Saturday to finish at 331 (85-76-91-79) and earn her fourth straight All-Conference honor. Her round of 79 in the fourth round was the team's best and the third lowest round on the day.
Audrey Kuehn shot a 93 and
Megan Canfield a 96 to round out the NWU scoring in the 4
th round.
Sally Barie was the fifth NWU player shooting a score of 102. Canfield finished 31
st overall and Barie was 34
th.
Wartburg golfer Rachelle Beardsley was the individual champion with a score of 311 to win her fourth straight title.
