CRETE, Neb. – The 2016 season got off to a winning start for the Nebraska Wesleyan women's golf team as they defeated rival Doane University in a dual that was played Saturday morning (Sept. 3) at College Heights Country Club in Crete, Neb.
NWU shot a team score of 387 to defeat Doane by 16 strokes as they had a score of 403 in both team's first competition of the year.
Sally Barie of Nebraska Wesleyan was the individual medalist with a score of 89, her best score in her three year career. Barie was not even in the NWU top five on the day as she played as an individual during her career best round. Teammate
Joselyn Lemm came in 2
nd place with a score of 92 as the Prairie Wolves took the top two spots on the day.
Other golfers in the top four of the lineup for NWU were
Sam Beal who tied for 4
th with a 94 and
Rachel Petik in 6
th place with a score of 95.
Four other players participated for the Prairie Wolves.
Megan Canfield and
Mallory Huck shot 106,
Audrey Kuehn had a 117 and Kenzie Maschka a 124.
